Anna will be running some day-long watercolour workshops in Autumn 2010 at Cranleigh Arts Centre (a beautiful old building dating from1847 and originally built as the village school).  Nearby accommodation can be recommended for those wishing to stay locally.

November 12th -15th - Autumn colours painting leaves and fruit.

at beautiful West Dean College in West Sussex. Learn how to observe the vibrant colours of the autumn palette - turning leaves, foliage and berries. You develop your colour mixing skills in watercolour and enhance your understanding of how light and colour create shape and form, so that your subjects take on a realistic and three dimensional quality on paper.

August 7th - 13th ‘Summer flowers and fruit - vibrant realism with watercolours’ at West Dean College.

Part of West Dean's 'Summer School' - use the beautiful and extensive gardens of West Dean to choose inspiring subjects to paint - for a week! We will have time to cover all aspects of my painting including - observing varied textures and colours in full detail,  achieving compositions with impact, capturing intensity and clarity of colour and how to use highlights and contrast to create form. You will gain confidence in your colour mixing and successfully recreate the vibrancy of nature in watercolour.

September 12th - 14th  ‘Fruit good enough to eat - in watercolour’ at The Great House at Sonning, Berkshire.

In a fantastic venue, we will be focusing on creating vibrancy and luminosity while painting seasonal fruit. Anna will teach how to observe light, shade and colour in your subjects and layer up watercolour to achieve depth and solidity of form.

The days will be relaxed, fun, and with a limit of 10 participants, will be tailored to your specific needs, from beginners to the more experienced painter. You can treat the day as a one-off or book all three days to really develop your work further over the 3 months - with telephone consultations with Anna in between sessions if you'd like.   Anna will demonstrate her working methods and techniques from the selection of a subject, through composition, colour mixing and the layering of the watercolour which allows her to achieve her vibrant and realistic results.

Participants will need to bring their paints and brushes.  Tables, boards and easels are supplied.  Anna can provide suitable subjects but if participants have a particular flower or fruit they wish to paint then they should bring that with them.

Correspondence learning

Anna is considering setting up an online/telephone correspondence course for people who find it difficult to travel but would like her to work with them on their botanical painting. If this would interest you, please contact Anna so that she can explore whether it would be viable.
